As A Future Learner I Must Watch Who Molds Education

My Goals in Learning

My goals in learning and being a good leader are as follows.  1.  I must watch out for those who take advantage of the poor and their educational futures.  I can do this by using Twitter and Social Justice Groups that watch public schools in America and everywhere.  I must be educated about the plight of the students who are not part of the elite ruling class in any country.  This is how I help education develop and grow.  It is important because this learning changes my pedagogy.  My teachings must accessible to all.  2.  I must keep up to date with the latest technology changes to use in the classroom so I can explore them for my teaching lessons.  3.  I must watch each school’s curriculum and that it reflects the economic status of its students and it focuses on the proper objectives.  This essay is for you to read and me to go over my future as a learning teaching leading technology in my school.

Watching Out for All Students

I don’t care what school I work for I must think about students success regardless of their parents wealth and status in their community.  This can be difficult because parents pay for my salary but they may not be aware of how education and having fair access to it affects the communities we live in.  I do believe in public education still and I feel that many students and charter schools in America and private schools here in Thailand are not focusing on education for all.  Money is important but all students should have access to technology in their classrooms and schools should teach teachers how to use technology in classrooms.  Many textbooks are out of date and are dull in primary school and as a teacher my learning is to see what interests students using technology and find online software that helps students achieve all their basic skills and even skills using arts and a cheap price for the parents.

Technology Changes

I utilize Twitter and different organizations that emphasize technology and learning in the class and study about the success of software and I can learn from other teachers and their testimonies and what their students like.  As a graduate of this Masters program with a focus in technology leadership, I feel that most of the software site like Weebly.com are not complicated but I must learn how to operate them and how they are used well in the class and for what subjects.  I think maths and science can be re-invigorated by using media and software to create advanced and abstract thinking for students based on their class level.  The classroom is a small part of life.  Education should always be tied to the outside world, to what student’s parents do, to the latest technology being sold my Samsung and the tech. giants.  Are the tech giants selling products only to chat with friends or are they moving to reveal subject matter and test students on knowledge taught on a piece of software, on a mobile phone, or a laptop, or a tablet?

Curriculum

Curriculum for schools may be limiting and too limited.  I know the curriculum for Maths in my class for primary grade 2 but how could I make it more interesting and make the learning relevant to real life.  How can I make each subject interesting so that outside of the classroom they could actually reflect on math concepts.  This happens with English grammar, Science, Health, etc.  Technology can make the students take ownership of learning what they have to but adding new goals for curriculum can be exciting and can make the boring goals in basic education more exciting.  Teachers should talk to students and the ones who are interested in certain subjects and see what they say.  Teachers should listen to students when building curriculum also.  This can help with assessment.  Assessment should change and can change so it is an exciting experience that is relevant to their young daily lives.

Closing

I know I must learn to teach and keep my skill up to date by following the above goals and to often think about what items I should teach and how I should teach for students so they can go to highschool and university and enjoy learning and hopefully gain work.  I must prepare students for all careers and this may include creative work, like writing novels, being graphic designers, fashion designers, etc.  I must open the Internet doorway and help point out the interesting focus of different types of studies.  My experience with a lot of curriculum from studying in the Masters in Education program at Michigan State is that race and gender affect what you plan for you students.  I must keep in mind the when showing new subjects to learn for future success that I don’t limit students based on their race, gender, sexual orientation.  These developmental changes happen at such a young age.  Children are a lot more clever than most teachers give them credit for and their are so much distraction with the Internet.  I must learn to teach what is important and help for a better curriculum with other teachers.  The group of diverse thought is an intelligent way to approach education.

This picture to the right is a hard one for some to understand.  They think that because everyone has the same curriculum then they all can achieve greatness.  If students all have access to two parent families, to extra curricular activites, to home safety for studies, etc.  Then a society is moving towards education for all.
I always say don't get too stressed when there are problems in your class or in education as a whole.  I say do your best.
This is the circle of factors that may affect student success or add to stressors they have in their daily life.  This is the list I pay attention to as a teacher and Social Justice Advocate.
