Welcome

This portfolio is an exhibition of my experiences as a participant in the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership with a focus in Technology Leadership at

Michigan State University.

-This portfolio will talk about my goals as I applied to the program and if they changed and what I got out of the program.  I will show you student work  I did as a part of the program and and my interests when it came to my favorite courses.  One of my old goals as a teacher was 're-discovered' as a result of the program and this is most important for me as a teacher, teaching but having students learn and be treated equally.  I see to that I value each student equally when teaching no matter their sexual orientation, learning disability, race, culture, first language.  My pages will touch on this them of equality a great deal because this is what stood in the program Social Justice in Education.

'The Class' was a film that made me appreciate the MAED program and my focus in Technological leadership.  I had to discuss all relevant issues about leadership and teaching properly from EAD 850, Multicultural Education Issues and Strategies with Professor Shahjahan.  "This films is about reaching all students in your class iregardless of race or creed or religion.  I never expected being overseas I could use multiculturalism  as a tool to see all my students in different ways but this Educational Leadership tool can help teachers with very diverse students populations like in America schools in a different and more understanding way."

My experience in teaching all primary school subjects in English as a Second or Foreign Language in a foreign culture may have help me understand my own multicultural experience and helped me see each student in their own 'light'.  I could see their culture and creed and abilties in learning in English per student.  This is very empowering.  When I acknowledge a student for each of the aspects that shape them, like being a child of fishermen, then I might understand more of what their study habits and goals might be.

The film 'Tomboy' was a reminder that teaching in Thailand is special and that students can find their own gender identity and choose their own sexual preference.  This too was a film I had to study and discuss from EAD 850, Multicultural Education Issues and Strategies with Professor Shahjahan.

I realized that even in nearby Vietnam where I want to teach being a girl means being a 'traditional' girl for their culture and not the 'butch' stereotype back in the United States. Both sexes can be accepted here more because it is part of Thai culture.  I teach now with a better sense that students may struggle with gender idenity and this is natural.

I never thought about America and many countries have it harder than children in my classes do.  They may face a lot more harrassment.  A young girl playing football with the boys and wanting to be a boy may be challening for some teachers.
Marking in class so everyone gets the satisfaction that work is done at that time.  I never liked marking in class but studens like to be treated and recognized as individuals.
